Physical characteristics

• Size: Can vary depending on the type of Poodle used in the cross (toy, miniature, medium, or standard), but it is generally medium to large, weighing between 33 and 99 lbs (15 and 45 kg) and standing 16 to 26 inches (40 to 65 cm) tall.
• Coat: Soft, curly, or wavy, with minimal shedding (thanks to Poodle DNA), making it more suitable for people with allergies. Colors are diverse: black, brown, white, gray, or combinations of these.
• Appearance: Has a muscular body, droopy ears, and expressive eyes that can be brown, blue, or heterochromatic (one of each color) — a trait inherited from the Australian Shepherd.
Temperament
• Intelligent and trainable: Both parent breeds are very smart, so the Australian Mountain Doodle learns quickly and responds well to positive reinforcement training.
• Friendly and affectionate: It likes to be close to its family, gets along well with children and other animals if socialized from a puppy.
• Energetic: Needs regular physical activity (walks, play, mental stimulation) to stay happy and healthy; it is not an ideal dog for homes without outdoor space.
Care
• Coat: Requires weekly brushing to prevent tangles, and professional grooming every 2-3 months.
• Health: Generally a robust dog, but may inherit health issues from its parents, such as hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and skin disorders. It is important to choose a responsible breeder who conducts health screenings on the parent dogs.
• Lifespan: Approximately 10-14 years.
